This work describes Austrian history from the time of the Romans to the republic of the twentieth century. It addresses the settlements of the early middle ages, new organisational forms like the march against Avars and Hungary, the reign of the House of Babenberg, the Habsburg monarchy on the rise to central European power and the Austro-Hungarian monarchy.
