Set in Medieval times, author Susan Joy Bellavance tells a story about orphan Marguerite, a scullery maid, who worked in the King's kitchen. When she repeatedly broke the King's precious glass, Marguerite brought the broken shards of glass to the King and explained how they broke. While those around her tell her to bury the glass, thus hiding the evidence, Marguerite knows what she must do. This beautifully illustrated story shows how brave this young girl was, courageously approaching the King, knowing she might be punished. What she experienced, though, is what we all experience when we go to the Lord in Confession, His loving mercy!
